Winter Golf

Wow...winter really took hold in December. We had snow, rain, and plenty of wind from two major storms that hit the Cape. At the course this morning (on Tuesday, January 28th,) it is a balmy 19 degrees; but the windchill has us at zero or below.

When I walked the course yesterday it was 95% clear of snow, and the course is playable. Please call 508-487-9201 for updates on course playability. On a fair-weather day it is worth playing some winter golf. The "Honor Fee" system is in place at a cost of $10.00. You simply put your $10 spot in the mail slot to the right of the Pro Shop door and tee it up.

National Park Service's new 10-year contract

On a business note...the National Park Service's new 10-year contract with the Town of Truro is out, and all interested parties must have their bids in by March 4th, 2014 by 4 PM.

I am currently working on the Town of Truro Prospectus with Town Administrator Rex Peterson and Licensing Agent Nicole Tudor. I am looking for some positive letters about the Town's managing Highland Links and how this operation has impacted your life. If you would, please take the time to write a letter and mail it to:
Superintendent George Price, Cape Cod National Seashore, 99 Marconi Site Road, Wellfleet, MA 02667.

Also please send along a copy of your letter to: Jim Knowles, P O Box 162, N Truro, MA 02652. I want to include some of the letters in the Prospectus from our customers of many years. The Town of Truro has been a protector of the Historic nature of Highland Links for over 40 years. I would like to see the Town of Truro remain the guardian of Highland Links as well as you do...so show your feelings in letter form. I thank you for this in advance.

The days are getting longer, and golf on the tube has you thinking about playing again. It is my hope that when you return to the Links this spring and summer you will find it run by the Town of Truro and helped by the same staff that has served you for so many years.

“The three great essentials to achieve anything worthwhile are first, hard work; second, stick-to-itiveness; third, common sense.”
